Just a quick one folks...We've just arrived back in Londres after a long sojourn in beautiful Malaysia for Ramadhan and Syawal. It was such a refreshing break from our routine in London. Couldn't get enough of the nightly mamak sessions, reflexology, private trunk shows, hair wash and blow and just good old gossip and catch up sessions with family and friends. We're already counting the days and moolah for our next trip back...

The Taste of London Festivals is one of the most prestigious outdoor Food Festivals held in London every year. 40 of the top restaurants in London participated this year including 3 Malaysian restaurants, Tuk Din, Satay House and Awana. It was a fantastic way to sample a selection of gastronomic treats London has to offer in a single location.

FASH is proud to say that we volunteered this year at the Taste of Malaysia stand and we had such a marvelous time! We met Rick Stein, the famous chef; Yuna, the Malaysian folk singer and Norman Musa, the Malaysian celebrity chef from Manchester.

This was delivered today. Oh yes! The coveted Balenciaga City Bag in Palm Tree.

Ours? Nooooooooooo...We wish! A fashie, with her head firmly screwed on read our post on Koodos.com having a limited super sweet deal on this usually pretty pricey specimen. She immediately contacted us to purchase it for her. Alas! But we missed it by mere seconds. Most times, Koodos has an offer for a short time only. We felt soooooooo bad and promised to get one for her the next time Koodos has the same offer. We assured her it was several times a year.

A week later, we received an email from her saying that the offer was back on! We quickly ordered it for her. Phew! Made it this time. If you look on Koodos now, there is only one Balenciaga City Bag left.

Something for you all to chew on...when we googled this bag, we found out it was current season on the Balenciaga US site. But not for the UK! Back in March, our life seemed a blur. We were running on empty, scrambling around London, feverishly trying to get our first event, the YES Bazaar off the ground.

Despite all the madness, in between putting up posters, we managed to grab a bite to eat at the many Malaysian eateries dotted around London. One afternoon, we decided to take a breather and grab lunch at Tuk Din, arguably one of the best Malaysian restaurants in London.

Sh sat down with her sister, waiting for Fa. She noticed sitting behind her was the one and only Choc a Blogger and renowned journalist, Zaharah Othman, affectionately known as Kak Teh. Of course, Sh jumped at the chance to say "Hello". This woman, was a legendary blogger as she has interviewed or met ALMOST EVERYONE....From Alex Ferguson, to the Jacksons, to Amy Search, to Hollywood actresses. She is sent all over the world to interview or follow Malaysian politicos. Her friends include Malaysia's celebrated Shoemaker.

And yet there she was in Tukdin, tapping away at her Netbook, her graceful looks hidden coyly behind a Malaysian style veil. She responded to Sh in soft and soothing motherly voice, which instantly brings you back straight to happy childhood memories. Fa came and had a chat and we proceeded to have our meal.

Kak Teh joined us a later and we had a nice informal chat cum interview as she explained she was intrigued by the YES Bazaar we were organizing. Her approach was Oprah-like, making us feel comfortable and relaxed conversing with her, as we would to an old friend.

She is generous in spirit and went on to blog (http://kakteh.blogspot.com/2010/03/when-shireen-meets-zalifah.html) about us and write about us for Malaysia's New Straits Times (http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/articles/20100405194910/Article/index_html). Her ever so subtle power in reaching out to readers is amazing. She definitely heightened our profiles after her articles was published. And she did that for many of the stallholders of the YES Bazaar, who like FASH had just embarked on the rollercoaster life of an Entrepreneur. And we can't thank her enough.

YES Bazaar in London, A FASH Production

Hello...Helloo...

We are so excited to share with all the fashies, the pictures of our first ever event, the YES Bazaar, co-organized with OMEC YES here in London.

It took place 9 days ago in the Stowe Centre, nearby to Bayswater in Central London. There was 20 booths taken up by mostly Malaysian Entrepreneur and Aspiring Entrepreneurs based in the UK.

3 booths, Asia Essentials Skincare (http://asia-essentials.blogspot.com/), SEPATU Shoes (www.sepatu.co.uk) and Honey Apple 3 Drink took the opportunity to do a soft launch at the YES Bazaar itself. 3 Malaysian Ladies, who siezed the day and made us all proud!

The items sold at the YES Bazaar included lovely Malaysian Food, Teh Tarik (a rare commodity in UK, LOL!), Malaysian Fashion, Pre Loved Items, Cakes, Cupcakes, Skincare, Malaysian Chocolates, Original Prints, Toys and Greeting Cards. The owners of the stalls were a combination of established companies, Blogshops (including FASH), students and stay-at-home mothers who decided to become an entrepreneur for the day. Even Tourism Malaysia was there with an Information Booth on Malaysia with a Henna Tattoo artist offering her service, undoubtedly a crowd puller. Oh yes, the unforgettable part of the YES Bazaar had to be the Karaoke booth sponsored by Delima Restaurant. We even organized a Karaoke competition with prizes from Tukdin Restaurant. Alot of talented wannabe singers at the YES Bazaar that day!

When we first agreed to organize on behalf of OMEC YES, we (and the people around us) never knew how big it would be. All we knew was to do what FASH does best, put our heart and soul into everything we do. As time wore on, the anticipation was electric! More and more people wanted to participate or volunteer their services.

We invited the Acting Malaysian High Commissioner to officiate the YES Bazaar. He and his wife took the time to go to every booth, try the products, have a chat with them and sample the lovely food that was sold that day.

What a day!! We still talk about it everyday since then and we are full of motivation to organize the next event.

What a day! Our feet are killing us!!

We got ourselves tickets to the London Fashion Weekend today. We thought we would have a girly day out cum FASH research on the latest trends at London Fashion Week, to get some ideas for our future line (hopefully sooner rather than later)....And of course we expected to shop to our hearts content as loads of designers and up and coming designers set up booths to sell and promote their goodies.

So we Chaneled-Louboutined-Jimmychooed-Guccied-Longchamped-Sepatued-Lipsyed-Asosed-Primarked and fakelashed ourselves and headed off to Somerset House in London, the venue for the London Fashion Week and Weekend.

We collected our Show Bag and made our way to The Catwalk. The models came out in eclectic, lacey, flowing and pleated chiffon, fairyesque, Alice in Wonderland looks. Most of the looks were paired with lace or patterned tights. A look we've been sporting for quite some time now! We are bang on trend..Yay!

After the fashion show, we wasted no time and did some serious shopping. As hard as we tried to indulge ourselves and shop for our personal use, we couldn't help but buy lovely goodies for FASH. We saw quite a few items that the fashies requested before but was unavailable, pricey or sold out at WHOLESALE prices. SWEET!! Of course we had to grab it! A Juicy Couture Daydreamer (www.juicycouture.com), 3 Paparazzi Clutches (at a fraction of the price that it is sold on www.asos.com), Juicy Couture flip-flops for Children and 2 CC Skye Bangles (www.ccskye.com).

We were so shopped out that we had to get out from our sky high stillettos and slip on comfy ballerinas...have a good laugh at our pictures in the next post!

After a long 'hard' days work, we rewarded ourselves with Japanese fare at Nobu...Perfect!

All of you Malaysian and Non-Malaysian Entrepreneurs and Aspiring Entrepreneurs who are looking for a Bazaar in London to sell their wares, look no further!

The Young Entrepreneur Section of the Overseas Malaysian Executive Council assisted by FASH will be holding the YES Bazaar in the Stowe Centre (pictured above right), Harrow Road, London W2 on the 3rd Sunday of March. The nearest tube station to the Stowe Centre is Royal Oak, which is one stop away from Paddington Station and 2 stops away from Bayswater Station. The same venue that the Malaysian Student's Department used for their Hari Raya 2009 Open House.

There are 18 tables available to set up booths and so far quite a number have been snapped up. Also, free membership to OMEC YES will be offered to those eligible when they take up a booth.

The YES Bazaar will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, 21 March, 2010, only a month away. So don't wait and sign up now..now...now...for a booth....or come...come..come and have a good shopping day out in London.

You can even share a booth with a friend or two to sell home made cakes or your unwanted treasures lying around at home. And do invite your family and friends to come and shop till they drop. Not to mention lending support to the cultivation of the entrepreneurial spirit and networking opportunities OMEC is promoting between its members and like-minded people in the UK, Europe and Malaysia.

FASH is very honoured to be a part of it. This is the inaugural Bazaar we are organizing (alongside OMEC YES) with the hope of organizing many more events in the future, in the UK, Malaysia or elsewhere. And of course we will be taking up a booth to sell Original Art Prints from up and coming Malaysian Artist Hafiz Hajeedar, Tanamera SPA products, the famous Taharah Mud Soap (Soap for Samak), other Taharah products and also bits and bobs including our pre-loved stuff.

FASH and the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin

The start of 2010 has brought an abundant of opportunities for us to meet our fellow countrymen in many different settings. It began with an OMEC Yes brainstorming session on the proposed events for the year. A small group of OMEC Yes including FASH, were invited to join the team in charge of organising several events to raise the profile of the Young Entrepreneur Section of the Overseas Malaysian Executive Council (see link for more info on OMEC http://www.my-omec.com/).

We threw a couple of ideas around and now we are in charge of spearheading a few of the OMEC Yes events this year. Exciting times ahead for FASH! We have one event coming soon which we will be unveiling all the details on the blog soon. Look out for it!

Next, we attended the OMEC AGM in Corus Hotel, London. We had the chance to meet many of the top Malaysian and Malaysian-linked professionals and entrepreneurs.

To top it all off, we had the chance to hear the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin speak at the Malaysian High Commission in London. He was an impressive speaker, seamlessly speaking in both English and Malay, capturing the audience with his easy manner and well thought out words. He seemed genuinely concerned about the education system in Malaysia and eager to ensure that no efforts will be spared to improve it. Being mothers of young children, it was very reassuring.

He revealed then that the top 20 Schools in Malaysia would be in unveiled soon. When the list was announced recently, we were pleasantly surprised and immensely proud of the fact that both our schools were No.1 & No.2 of the top 20 Schools in Malaysia. Go Sri Aman and STF!

A good start to the year. Our aim for this year is to take FASH to the next level and be better than ever before. With the help of the fashies, we'll get there.

Yes...fashies...you don't need to do a double-take...Read it and weep.We just sold a Birkin to a The Ultimate Male Fashie who purchased it as a Valentine surprise for his incredibly lucky wife.We would kill to be in her shoes right now! Best of all, the wife is completely unaware!! Some people seriously have all the luck. Believe you me, our hubbies have not heard the end of this.

For those in the know, an Hermes Birkin is probably the most elusive handbag to purchase. Hermes only opens up the list to order a Birkin for a few hours in any given year. On top of that, even the staff are not told when the list is open. It is almost pure luck to be able to order one, unless of course you are the ultimate fashionista like Posh Beckham, who has 100 Birkins. Jealous!!! In Malaysia and Singapore, you have to wait 18 months to 3 years for your Birkin to arrive.

How did we do it?? Now that's a trade secret..What we can share with you is that we managed to order a Birkin for a fashie recently. When we got the call to pick up the bag, due to personal reasons the fashie was not able to proceed with the purchase. Hermes only allows a really limited time before they sell it to someone else. We decided to advertise it on our Facebook Status Update. Within an hour, we had more than 30 enquiries. In 2 hours, we agreed on the sale and the The Ultimate Male Fashie banked in the total amount on the same day. Taaa Daaah!

Anyway....until the 'Valentine Birkin' is personally hand-delivered by First Class to the The Ultimate Male Fashie, we took the opportunity to take some pictures and drool endlessly at the Birkin...and share it with all the fashies...

We were invited to join OMEC in London, the Overseas Malaysian Executive Council a business focus group committed to helping Malaysians in the UK generate business opportunities. The fact that the OMEC Dinner and Dance was just around the corner was not the ONLY reason we joined...LOL! Being newbie entrepreneurs, we know our biggest challenge begins now. We have to get ourselves out there, meeting people, making contacts and showing people what we are all about.

The OMEC Dinner and Dance provided a brilliant opportunity for us to do so. We made fast friends and contacts with many like-minded Malaysian professional and entrepreneurs in the UK, who have done it for the past 1 - 30 years. It's freezing cold, wet and windy here in London town....and every single day you feel like just curling into a ball and staying at home with the heaters on full blast.. On the same evening after Jimmy Choo for H & M was launched, we went to support our friend who was selling Malaysian-style Tudungs/Scarves at an Islamic Fashion Show in Richmond, Surrey. It was such an eye-opener to see the differing styles of Islamic Fashion available in London custom made by Muslims from many different countries.

If it is your lucky day, walking about London, you might just bump into a famous celebrity. Even better, Selfridges held a Celebrity Charity Garage Sale recently! Fabulous! FASH had the opportunity to meet loads of celebrities at one go! Yes!

Albeit, most people below 25 could not recognize most of the celebrities selling their cast offs on that day...but trust us..these people were a big deal many moons ago. To top it all off, we bought quite a few of their pre-loved designer stuff at a steal....Admittedly, our intention was to sell it on FASH...we even managed to get autographed paper bags to go along with the goods. We do apologize, we decided to keep it...for now..Maybe one day we'll change our minds.

Our day started at 6 a.m. today.....bright and early to wrestle our way to the coveted Choos....When we arrived, there was already 200 people in the queue!!! GASP!! We thought there was no way we would get anything! Shoot!

We perservered...through the pouring rain, nearly 6 hours of queuing and waiting, skipping lunch...etc..etc..and yet...it was soooooooo worth it. H & M did it again! This time we had to wait at the shop the whole 6 hours to even have a chance of browsing through the shoes and accessories section for only 10 minutes. Being in London, a city so cosmopolitan, small wonder that you find a mini version of any country lurking in it. As we are so far away from home, it gives us a warm fuzzy feeling everytime we attend any Malaysian organized gathering.

The recent two events held at the iconic Malaysia Hall in Bayswater were no exception. Partly due to the food, of course. Any Malaysian gathering is not complete without an array of food being served. And not just finger food and sandwiches....Oh no...It does not matter if the invite says 3 am. You will still be served starters, main course and dessert...LOL!

Lucky for us, our friend and compatriot, DI never fails to invite us for these meet the VIPs session. We are in Pre FASH heaven right now. Not only were we priviliged enough to sell pre loved goodies from Malaysian socialites - which also meant we got the first bite! We recently befriended a beautiful and incredibly successful mother of 5, AA, who has not even reached her 35th birthday. She first became our customer, then a friend, a business advisor and now a supplier as well. Being in the beauty business, image is important to her and she spends a small fortune on her wardrobe, which constantly needs updating. In fact, it is doubtful AA's pre-loved were worn more than twice...She has such massive wardrobe in multiple homes around Malaysia. Ok..ok...we admit...we want to grow up and be just like her! LOL!

She must have liked what we were doing as she gave us a mountain of her pre-loved and pre-owned (never worn) clothes to sell during our recent trip to Malaysia. When we held private bazaars, the Pre FASH items that sold the most were AA’s high fashion clothes. Admittedly, we were her first buyers....LOL!

Happy Eid to one and all! It's been a hectic 5 days for those who are celebrating Eid. We at FASH have not only been busy with Hari Raya but also processing orders and deliveries. Life goes on! If that is one thing we learned from doing bazaars is that if we lowered the price even a little bit, our sales improved...Apart from shopping at outlets and shopping during sale time, the next best thing is buying good quality pre-loved or pre-owned items. When we were selling at the bazaars recently, we put up quite a lot of pre-loved for sale which sold very well. We ourselves bought quite alot of pre-loved from the other merchants! Marvelous....

Hi all!

We are back in business! The holiday is over...uwaaaaaaaaaaaa! Thank heavens we have FASH and the fashies to keep ourselves occupied! So we are in the process of organising all the requests for items from all the fashies over the past month when we were back in Malaysia. Oh no!!! We are leaving sunny (not really, more like wet) Malaysia for gloomy London, soon.... No more anything you can eat all night long...(if it was not Ramadhan, it would be anything you can eat, round the clock!). Back to cooking for ourselves again....oh well...that's our life.. And back to FASH full time again! Yay! After we were interviewed by Utusan Malaysia (see link for article) recently, we've had a flurry of orders..and we can't wait to get back to London to fulfill the mountains of requests..Don't worry, we'll get back to everyone soon..
